You spend a huge amount of your time at work. If you are unhappy with an aspect of your current job then this will have a massive impact on the quality of the rest of your life. There are a variety of reasons why you could be dissatisfied with your career. For example:
- Excessive workload
- Lack of promotion
- Work/life balance
- Time management
- Stress
- Poor income
- Job satisfaction
- Perhaps you would like a career change but don’t know how to make it happen.
Personal Illustration
To illustrate this let me share with you how I arrived at being a Life Coach. I had been teaching for a number of years. I began to feel that teaching was not offering me the satisfaction that it used to. I had two options:
1) Remain in my job and go through the motions
2) Leave and find a different career that would bring me satisfaction and fulfilment.
Obviously I chose the latter and I’m once again doing something that brings me enormous professional and personal fulfilment. I have achieved a lifelong goal of being self-employed and running my own business. I enjoy being my ‘own boss’ as it gives me so much freedom to shape my life the way I want it to be. Above all, however, I’m happy, living my dream, and having the life I deserve.
The answer may seem obvious but it’s amazing how many of us remain in situations that clearly make us unhappy.
Take care,
Jason
